I have always been a doodler. When I learned about Zentangle it took my doodles to the next level. I start with an idea, once I begin, the drawing takes over. I get caught up in the process much like meditation. My inspiration comes from the repetitive patterns found in the art of indigenous people, quilts, folk art and nature. I have sketch books filled with doodles and was encouraged to take them out of my sketch book and make them accessible to others. I began hand building clay bowls, boxes and vases, as surfaces to draw on. Using either a technique called sgraffito to scratch the design into the surface of the clay or drawing on the surface using a little squeeze bottle of underglaze with a fine metal tip. Each piece is unique. I want my work to be used and enjoyed so all glazes are food safe. Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
